So yeah, it took me forever to do the necessary things to get my hands on the first new episode since the 1996 TV movie and then watch the SOB, but I FINALLY GOT IT a few days ago... I have just watched the first episode of the new Doctor WHO, 'Rose', and the verdict IS...

Thumbs UP!

Is it perfect - no.
Is it Unearthly child - no; its MUCH too fast-paced for that.
Is it Doctor Who - YES..! BUT it IS Doctor WHO for 2005. Its Buffy-esque, polished, fast, a bit silly, but with some wonderful drama, action, and FX. The
music ranges from 'feh' to very moving. The theme is currently the original version, far as I can tell. The actor's did a great job, the story is very introductory and basic while being an adventure... The Dr's character and TARDIS are introduced quick (Mom, you'll love the JFK scene) - I got chills when the TARDIS was seen, or store-front dummies, or the Doctor did something cool or strange, yet there was little stopping in wonder - but when it DID stop for a moment, it was quite good and interesting. The whole first episode is maybe a bit TOO flippant in a way, but who cares, HE'S BACK! I can't wait to see more!
I like Billie, I like Chris (he's got a lot of other Dr's in there... I enjoy his performance despite that dratted costume), though his accent's a bit thick... he's fun, whimsical, caring, uncaring, very witty and adoring, and he is the Doctor. YES! Simple as that!
I'm gonna watch it again!

Wanna get it? You might still find it below, I hear... happy hunting!

The new WHO has been leaked, but I only have dial-up.... Here ya go in the
meantime:

www.torrentspy.com. Just look up "Doctor Who." The episode is listed
as Rose1.avi. A word to the wise, don't do a Google Search on that file name
because it will only bring up teenage oral videos. The file is 349 megs in size
and it took 3 hours for me to download using my broadband connection. And 230
users were hosting late last night.
i'm not going to link to the torrent, but I've been a who fan for years, and
sometimes its better to search for "dr who" instead of "doctor
who" (hint hint)

((you have to download a component from the above site's links in
order to download the file in the first place... Than I had to update my
realplayer/DIVX in order to watch it, and even then there's times when the sound
was off, but the picture quality is pretty damn good... good luck!))
