Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) April 06, 2006 -- What started off as a childhood idea for artist Scott P. Vaughn has evolved from self-published comics into a series of in-the-works novels complete with a short-story anthology that kicks the space opera saga off. When getting a distributor for the two comic book issues he printed became a harder-than-anticipated task, Scott began contemplating writing Hero-Lore as a novel. When the universe he created over years refused to die, writing became the quickest outlet for Scott compared to massive detailed drawings that no one was noticing. Composing a group of short stories as practice, Scott eventually felt confident enough to start writing the novel. 127,000 words and a year and half later, he was finished with ‘Shards of Destiny –Hero-Lore Book I’, and began seeking literary representation. While waiting for that to materialize, Scott went back and collected his original short stories and added to them as needed. He compiled them along with new tales written by friends, including ‘Star Wars/Star Trek’ author Daryl F. Mallet, who not so coincidentally had also helped pen the original comic book. Eventually Scott created his own original illustrations and cover and self-published a paperback called ‘Tales of the Hero-Lore’, featuring the stories set before ‘Shards of Destiny’ as a sort of prequel. Included here, in this first anthology of the Tales of the Hero-Lore, are narratives that see the last warrior of his race travel from world to world in search of the Twelve Artifacts, instead finding adventure, romance, and drama. A cast of characters, including assassins, fighters, soldiers, machines, cultists, queens, and mercenaries either ally at his side or stand in his way, depending of the circumstances. From death and betrayal, to lust and intrigue, and finally battle and victory, readers can follow the exploits of what has made this man called Hero a myth - beloved by his comrades, feared by his enemies. 'Tales of the Hero-Lore' will be getting a bit of publicity at last. I have been leaving some flyers here and there of late, but starting this coming week there will be an ad running in 9 community newspapers around the valley. This type of advert can cost a lot of money; fortunately I'm sleeping with the publisher The ad includes the hero-lore.com address, as well as a direct URL for ordering the book.
Got my second statement from my agent, who informs me that so far six publishers have been presented the manuscript for 'Shards of Destiny; Hero-Lore Book I' in whole or in part, and that two have so far passed.
